Eye Movement Study - Participants Needed for an Eye Movement Study by Researchers from UBC Botanical Garden and Japan’s Chiba University. Researchers from UBC Botanical Garden and Japan’s Chiba University are collaborating on a study entitled, “Cross-cultural Comparison of Eye Movement Between Japanese Gardens and English-Style Landscape Gardens and Geometric Gardens.” We are seeking interested Western-born & raised and Japan-born & raised adults to volunteer up to 180 minutes and participate in this eye-movement study on how Japanese Gardens and English-Style Landscape Gardens and Geometric Gardens are “seen” and “felt”. You must: Be between the ages of 20 and 49, inclusive Be born and raised in a Western country, (preferably, but not exclusively Canada or USA) or Japan Possess 20/25 (i.e. near perfect 20/20) vision or better without hard contact lenses or glasses (soft contact lenses are okay) Time Commitment A morning or an afternoon between September 17-28, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Location The eye movement study will take place at UBC Botanical Garden, Rose Garden, and Nitobe Memorial Garden. Other Details Subject participants will have their eye-movements studied, heart-rates monitored and will be subject to a small survey.
