A large tree with pinnate leaves, ~ 12 inches long. ~6 pairs of leaflets with parallel veins. Clusters of 3 black stone fruits surrounded by green fleshy tissue. The three are attached at the base, but split apart on ripening. 1, 2 or all 3 may mature. Found growing near the National Arboretum, Washington D.C., so probably an exotic. Any suggestions?
I wonder if it is Sapindus saponaria. STRI - Office of Bioinformatics - Metas Sapindus saponaria leaf - Google Search Sapindus saponaria - Google Search
