Thanks in advance for your effort(s). I am totally stump on this red berry plant... spent approximately 4 days online trying for a match with no luck. Came close at times in identifying it, however, while close, no other plant was an exact match.

    More photos here... big photos:

    Stats:

Zone 5 (pretty cold area in Northeast U.S.)

Plant prefer shade (quite a fruiting colony under tall deciduos trees). The plant shown here was removed from this colony located about 300 ft away.

Ground Growing Area: colony is growing in constantly/consistently moist but well-drain soil.

Flowering: Early Spring... prior to leafing out. It flowers before all other plants around the area, even ahead of the Serviceberry plants.

Flower Color: Pink turning to almost purple in older stage.

Berries: Most berries are red (more crimson colored) mid-June, although on further checking, some are still in their green state.

    - No existing stem between berries and fruiting stems.

    - Fruits from leaf scars with 2 to 3 berries attached to a scar.

    - One seed within berry.

    - Berries on plant in yard do not always persist through winter.

Leaf: Whorled Leaf formation at end of each stem. Elongated / slim and thin in texture. No waxy feel. No berries hang from this formation.

Deciduous (however, leaves persist well into mid winter... semi evergreen?).

Truly a shrub... many stems from the ground formed its rounded shape.

I've exhausted the hollies, coffeeberry, ilex myrtifolia and numerous others with no luck. Searched images with different assigned keywords, yet the "whorled leaves" formation as well as leaf texture and characteristics are throwing off my efforts to identify it.

Do hope you can assist. Again, more photos here: http://www.fusionpearl.com/redberry.html. Thanks so much. I will look out for any responses and try my very best to answer any follow-up questions.
