We purchased 4 Dichroa febrifuga in Spring 2005 from a reputable Portland, Oregon nursery. They grew well for the 2005 season, and started out this year looking well. However, in the past 6 weeks the shrubs look like they are dying. We fertilized and watered well, and they responded with some fresh growth from the bottom limbs. However, they still look very bad. The leaves are yellow turning to orange/red and the blossoms are quite wimpy. I cut back the shrubs to the newer growth before I found your website, so I can't post photos of the worst of it. Any thoughts about what we're doing wrong?

Sounds like they got dried out.
