Ever seen this beauty?

    Please help identify this plant. It grows to 12 feet or more each year and dies to the ground each winter here in south Georgia (USDA zone 8). I know, I know, we're talking subtropical here. The plant spreads by root sprouts and blooms in late summer/ early fall (that's September down this way!)

    One of my first inclinations, hardly more than a guess, is nicotiana. There are many flowering tobaccos, and many colors and habits. I thought it was an annual, but there may be some that grow back from stolons.
