Please help identify this plant. It grows to 12 feet or more each year and dies to the ground each winter here in south Georgia (USDA zone 8). I know, I know, we're talking subtropical here. The plant spreads by root sprouts and blooms in late summer/ early fall (that's September down this way!) Thanks for your help! Cheers
One of my first inclinations, hardly more than a guess, is nicotiana. There are many flowering tobaccos, and many colors and habits. I thought it was an annual, but there may be some that grow back from stolons.
Someone on gardenweb identified the plant as Clerodendrum indicum. Here's a website for those interested. http://www.floridata.com/ref/C/cler_ind.cfm Thanks for your interest. Cheers.
