    Showing buds, flowers emerging from the capsule, and full bloom. Eupomatia laurina, Eupomatiaceae. An ancient plant native to New Guinea and Australia.

    Yes - it's an ancient plant. Common name is Bolwarra, which may mean 'streak of light' or 'plenty' or 'well developed', in local Aboriginal languages.
