Euphorbia lathryis

    Mystery Tree

    We have a few of these weird looking trees that popped up this year. I've looked online and in books and I can't figure out what it is. Please help me identify it before my dad pulls it up. Thanks!

    What region of the world is this from (i.e., where are you located)?

    I'm from Connecticut (Northeast US) but I don't really think it's from around here. My dad thinks the seeds may have been in the mulch, my mom suspects the seeds were carried here by hurricane Isabel. No one around here that I've asked has ever seen anything like it before.

    I believe this is Euphorbia lathryis, and the reason that the plant looked familiar to me is that Douglas Justice identified a similar plant in this thread in late September.
