Help, my neighbour gave me some of this horrible plant which is completely invasive and overtaking my new garden bed. I planted it last year very small and it didn't do a whole lot last year. However, this year I see runners popping up all over and quite distant. When I try to remove the remaining pieces I just discover more and more about to sprout underneath the soil. I have removed alot of soil and just keep finding tiny root strands which is all it seems to take to keep this plant going.....I may be spreading it in fact. Any suggestions????
Re: Euphorbia cyparissias Cypress Spurge How to Eradicate Well I'm not sure about the lack of response to my query, maybe someone could enlighten me? The Cypress Spurge is still popping up all around and I am still looking for a way to rid it from my garden. My husband thinks if we compost the plant and surrounding soil in an airtight garbage can we can at least use what we are digging up as future compost. This sounds like a really bad idea to me but wondered if it is possible to do this with such an invasive plant. I know that Cypress Spurge will thrive after fire in a wild habitat.
Have you tried using Killex on it? Whatever you use to spray your lawn weeds will work fine on killing what you can target. Avoid Round Up as it will not be as effective. Jim.
Thanks for your thoughts. However, I don't use any chemicals in my garden on or my lawn. The plant was established for approx. 1 year and when it was coming up it was about 6" height and 8" wide. I dug it out and a hole about 3.5' wide and 1' deep where there were signs of root threads and bits. I didn't see any signs of it coming back up for several days. I hope I got it all! I have since covered the area and am using it for a newly expanded vegetable plot. Thanks again for your input.
