I have two three year old espaliered apple ( Cox Ornage and Spartan) trees close to the north fence. The trees get lots of sun. They are healthy. I have taken off about 2/3 rds of the fruit this year, and 20 are still remaining on each tree. Is this too much to leave? Should I take some more off?

The trunks are abiout pone inch in diameter, and trees look very young. So, I am not sure.

    Thanks

You should wait until late june before thining fruit from your trees, the tree will naturally shed fruit on its own ( called June fruit drop) after this time you should thin down to no more than two fruit per flower cluster and preferably to one per cluster. This will allow for optimum ripening.
