I have two new apple trees on dwarf stock, purchased at the UBC Apple Festival in 2008. I hope to attend the espalier course at UBC in June, but in the meantime, is there anything I should do to start the process in spring?

    Thanks

There's an excellent book I use as a reference: 'Pruning and Training' by Christopher Brickell & David Joyce. I bought a copy at the UBC 'In the Garden' store, after a workshop on pruning. It has a good section on fruit tree training.
Apple espalier training cuts should start in winter.
    Have fun!
