    Hi,

I have 2 English Walnut trees...they have been producing for several years...for the last 2 years the nuts are not falling free of the hull like they used to...is there a reason for this...it was so nice previous years to just go and pick them up and not have to take off the black soft yuckie hull.

    Thanks
    Greta

Might be a disease problem. How does the rest of the tree look?

The trees are just beautiful and very full of leaves. A lot of nuts also just most of them not coming out of the hull.

I live in NW Ohio & have English as well as Black Walnut Trees.
In the past week our English have slowly started to fall, most with the hull off, some not.
Our nuts usually don't start falling until the end of September and continue until the end of October, with a few stragglers hanging on the branches.
We've found that every other year we have a bumper crop, which isn't this year.
Be encouraged..give them a couple weeks...they'll fall out of those jackets :)
