I found these growing in my oak tree covered yard. They were growing in a patch of lambs ear ground cover I need help to identify as my Yorkie who loves her vegie's ate one. This mushroom is almost like a pillow pack on the top it is soft and squishy like it is full of air, as you can see it is sealed underneth. I cut it open in the third picture. Help Okay I am off with pup to emergency vet, she is getting pretty sick. Now I am sure we have a poison fungus.

I am not familiar with one (we don't have oak trees where I live so I'm a little dumb when it comes to mushrooms growing around oak). I'd suggest calling your local poison control center - they have mushroom experts local to your area on call 24/7. They also deal with dog poisonings all the time, so don't worry about giving them a call. I imagine someone will chime in with a correct ID on this one, but it might not be for several hours or a couple of days. Please post an update here when you have it ID'd and of course how your dog reacted to it, whether its good or bad.

Puffball of some sort eg. Lycoperdon or Scleroderma.
Dark mass of mature spores inside, which means that if it was edible, it is now past the edibility stage.
Scleroderma species in my region are poisonous but not fatal.
Here is an article on Scleroderma puppy poisoning http://www.svims.ca/ff0908.pdf

Okay back from vet little puppy is doing better. I think she will be okay, she is drinking water and is not getting sick anymore. It was only a tiny bit she ate so I am lucky. I still want to know what it is. Yikes!!! That Mushroom cost me $786.95

Puppy is doing better but that dang mushroom cost me nearly a grand. : ) or was it the puppy who caused that financial pain?
