I would not do this without the right permissions unless they are your trees. That being said, you can take a clipping and stick it in either moist potting medium or a cup of water. You then want to place it in a bright place and wait. You can watch for little growths in the water glass (which is what I do mostly because I'm impatient and want to see how well things are growing). Make sure if you go with the water cup that you change the water every few days to keep the oxygen levels high or if you have a spare fish tank pump, you can go high tech on it and set up some hydroponics for it which will also keep the water from losing its oxygen content. This works better or worse for different types of plants - and not at all for others apparently - but yours should be fine for this. You may or may not need some sort of rooting product or plant feed which you can find at your local plant nursery or garden center usually.
