    Hi Everyone!

I'm planning on getting in on some tree farming and I have some questions for the plant experts!

My parents have about 3.5 acres of agricultural land that we're finally planning on utilizing. We've been going through the options of what to plant and we've seem to have landed on planting emerald cedars.

I've been researching propagation of emerald cedars but I've come up dry on a couple concerns I've had.

I have read that its best to use clippings, and to plant during the fall, then transplant once they have a decent root system in mid spring (may?).

I have also read that they are hardy plants, but I'm still concerned about leaving them outside during the winter, especially since this winter is supposed to be harsh. I have them in a shady, sheltered spot.

I'm planning on planting 3000 trees, I have a few healthy cedars to get my clippings from. I'm planting them with root builder and I'm using pellets.

So to sum it up: Should they be fine to be outside during the winter? (if not, should I invest in a green house or?)

When is the best time to transplant?

Any feedback on my questions or my overall plan would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Luke
