My Emerald Cedar hedge has developed a disease in several locations. The end of the branches are black but the base stays green. I was advised to use Sulphur Dust in either the dust form or make a water based solution. This treatment does not appear to be working. Is this method of control correct, or is there a better approach to this problem? Regards Dave Gardiner
A fungicidal drench might help, but not knowing what the problem is, unless you're sure the tree sat in wet conditions for too long (which would create a fungal problem), I would be concerned about any viral origin that could spread to other nearby trees, in which case I'd cut off and burn the affected areas.
Thank you for the information. I will go to my local nursary and acquire a drench. Regards David Gardiner
