Elderberry

    Does any know where wild elderberries grow in the lower mainland?

    Just about any clearing at the edge of a forested area will have red elder. Particularly good areas are the power line clearings on the North Shore. In these forums there has been some mention of blue elder in the Lower Mainland, but I have never found it here.

    If you're looking for elder berries now, only Red-berried Elder will have any on yet. Other elders ripen their berries later in the autumn.

    Thank you so much for the information. i am an elderberry nut. i have 2 new bushes in my yard that have given me just a few flowers to make elderberry wine but unfortunately it is not enough. Hennce the search.
