    Greetings,

Can you confirm if this is an elderberry?

Don't know, but not an elder. Can you add a pic of the whole plant?

Staphylea trifolia? Is this cultivated or in the wild? Near Sudbury, again?

it is a wild plant, found in a moist, hardwood forest, in the sudbury area

I do not have a picture of the whole plant...my co-worker picked it, put it in a bag, and expected me to identify it!

I don't think it's a Staphylea trifolia as it's ID features include a 3 leaflet compound leaf...this has more than three (5-7) Also, the leaves are differently shaped....it's has leaflets that are elliptical AND oval, and an extra leaflet joining another leaf at the bottom of this particular one.
