This egg was in a hole underneath a slab of rock (which someone else mentioned to me was perfect rattlesnake habitat...). Any suggestions? I suspect quail, but I don't have Roger Tory Peterson's egg identification guide readily available to me.

The egg measured roughly five cm in length.
