Hi guys, im wondering could anyone help me, i am looking into how Winter heliotrope (petasites fragrans) affects other plants, as not much study has been done on this invasive species im finding it hard to find info on it besides the general paragraph here or there. Has anyone done any field work on it? I realise it outcompetes, has an extensive rhizome network and blocks plants beneath it growing but thats all i can find. Any help would be appreciated thanks :)
Blocking sunlight and nutrient capture are huge factors in outcompeting other plants. What else are you thinking might be there? Something like exuding chemicals into the soil? There are a few resources that go a bit deeper, perhaps: http://www.tii.ie/technical-service...ve-Plant-Species-on-National-Road-Schemes.pdf (page 52) I'm not even getting much from a Google Scholar search: Google Scholar
Thank you. Yes google schokar is limited. Im about to do some field work on how it affects plant testing environmental variables around and away from it and its percentage compositon etc. Was just looking for some tips but thank you.
Hmm, look at similar groups for methods? I imagine Cytisus scoparius and Fallopia japonica have been extensively tested.
