Today I found a fair number of Verpa conica mushrooms, mixed in with some Verpa bohemica. A Web search seems to indicate that this mushroom is edible, with none of the gyromitrin toxin that's present in V. bohemica. I haven't tried eating V. conica but am considering it. Have any forum members eaten this mushroom, also known as the Thimble or Bell Morel? I'm curious if it is worth trying. Thanks.

I haven't tried any Verpas, in part because of a report in some past year by SVIMS members/mycologists Adolf & Oluna Ceska on the gastrointestinal distress they experienced the last time they ate Verpas. I'm sorry I don't recall what species they ate.
