    Hi,
I live in New England and have acquired a 12" dia. golden barrel. I know they can't take our winters, and I know that they need no water during our winters, but, since I have it outside now, how low of an outdoor temp can it take before I bring it in?
    Best..

Bring it in just before a hard frost. I moved from CT to NC. I would leave all my cactus outside until the night of the first hard frost forecasted. Cactus are pretty tough plants. Red

Although the hard frost may deform the plant, the real killer is water. I had my grusonii outdoors for over 15 years, in a nice mostly sand mix for rapid drainage. Unfortunately, two years ago, we had a mild winter with lots of rain, and that did it in. Had I simply placed a cover over top of it (umbrella), it would have survived.
