This plant was given to me by someone at work. It slowly started dying off, so someone else tried to take care of it and it got worse. I think she overwatered it now because the soil was always damp. Its a little over a foot tall. Right now there's only leaves at the very top (there used to be branches coming off in the middle with leaves, but she cut those off because they were dying). The larger leaves are about an inch long. The stem has always looked like it does in the picture. Sorry the picture isn't that great. Any idea what it is? PLANT#1:
Here are another 2 plants. One is like a vine-type and one is almost like monkey grass (but indoor). These aren't dying, but they're not growing much. Any suggestions on watering/sunlight, or an identification of these? PLANTS #2 & #3:
Plant #1 Looks like an Aglaonema (Chinese evergreen) Plants #2 & #3 Pothos (Devils ivy) & Beaucarnea recurvata (Ponytail plant)
Beaucarnea (aka Nolina) seems to be a fairly dry-climate plant. I'd reduce water. It thrives in full sun. Pothos does quite well under ordinary office fluorescent lighting. Doesn't need to be really wet. Aglaonema would seem to like a moderatly sunny office--but that's from observing other people's plants.
Thanks everyone. I will probably cut back on watering the Pothos (Devils ivy) & Beaucarnea recurvata (Ponytail plant) and see how it does. Any suggestions on bringing the Aglaonema (Chinese evergreen) back to life? We tried having it near a window and it got worse, but I think that was due to overwatering.
My Aglaonema (which is planted in with Syngoniums) does pretty well in bright indirect light and the soil is kept slightly on the moist side.
