Ok, I bought a palm tree about 2 months ago. At least I belive it is a plam tree. It has a bamboo like trunk with long green leaves that sprout out from the middle of the stalk. Anyways I replanted it when I bought it and now the leaves are turning green from the tip of the leave and woekig their way up. I need help I don't know what to do????

That's a dracanea. Have you been overwatering it? Did you put into a black soil? It needs good drainage and hates wet feet.

I don't have one of these, but my sister has had one for years and she keeps it in indirect light, med- low light. Maybe yours is getting too much sunlight???

I grow mine in full sun, so I don't think sunlight would be the issue. Unless of course it isn't use to it and it was suddenly put in a place with more light...

DO you know what kind of plam tree it is? DO I need to give it more light? How often should I water it? Do you think it will live? Thanks for your help!

    Dracaena fragan's (corn plant)

As long as the roots are ok and it hasn't been overwatered, there is a good chance for recovery and getting the plant healthy again if it's given the right care.
If the roots are ok and the canes feel firm not mushy, you could see some new growth.

I'd take off all the dead and dry leaves and anything dead in the pot like old leaves.

Keep it where it's not cold or has drafts, a comfortable room temperature would be best.
These plants hate to be overwatered, so let the soil pretty much dry out before giving it a drink again. Potting it in bright indirect light is fine.

Thank you so much! However I was wondering do you know what kind of tree it is so that I can educate myself more for the future? I do believe I have been overwatering it. I was under the impression that the soil needed to be moist. The good news is that the trunk is not mussy but I have noticed that some of the new growth is dying. If I let it dry out some do you think I might still have a chance of bringing it back to life??

Your tree is a, "Dracaena fragan's" pronounced, 'dra-see-nah' or 'Dra-s-eena' The Common name it's called a (corn plant) because the leaves, you guessed it, resembles corn leaves:>)

there is always hope! Yes, let the soil dry out and check it again in about a week. Put your finger all the way down as far as you can into the soil to check for moisture, if it's still moist, wait another few days and check it again.

    Good luck with your plant!
