I have a little weeping cherry tree that was planted in the spring around May 2009.
I just noticed a hazle colored sap coming out of the tree at the base. What is that and what can I do to save it if it has a disease?

    Cultural control:
    Control insects and fungus diseases.
In large cankers, cut away all dead tissue until a sound surface is exposed. Treat the wound with a reliable disinfectant.
Follow cultural practices that produce a firm, stocky, moderate growth rather than a forced growth of soft wood.
Prevent trunk injury when possible. Winter injury can be prevented by shielding or whitewashing t
