We bought a dwarf peach tree from a local garden greenhouse and it had a dried up peach on it at the time. Now 2 years later it gets lush leaves on it, but a branch came up from the base of it with red leaves on it and it has grown 3 feet above the original tree. Two questions, should we allow this branch to grow and do we need another dwarf tree to pollinate this one in order to get fruit?
Not sure about the pollination off the top of my head but the long shoot sounds like it is coming from under the graft and I would remove. Just checked re pollination seem to be self for both dwarf and normal size. http://www.answerbag.com/articles/H...llinated/43387c60-67a7-2fbd-1742-aaaef8863916 http://www.westcoaster.ca/modules/AMS/article.php?storyid=662 Liz
