I've had 3 dwarf bananas that are 3 yrs old and have never bloomed. I've fertilized, let suckers grow, full sun, yet not a single blooming event. reasons?

    in-thanks-vance!

Are they in the ground or in pots? How much are you watering? Do you put them into dormancy in the wintertime? What do you fertilize with and how often? What kind of soil are they in? What is the humidity level where they're growing? Can you post a picture of the banana plants? (Dwarf Banana is a very large catchall term for about 50 species and cultivars).

If you've got Dwarf Cavendish or Super Dwarf Cavendish, about 3.5 to 4 years in pots is necessary for blooming, along with sufficient space for the corm and a really crazy fertilization and watering schedule. However, I can't tell you anything specific without more information.

If you've got Musa dasycarpa or another of the seeded varieties, other issues may come into play.

Are they in the ground or in pots?

5 gal buckets with a sandy loam mixture

    How much are you watering?

    soaked daily and leaves watered

Do you put them into dormancy in the wintertime?

they go into a greenhouse that ranges from 50*-70* F

What do you fertilize with and how often?

Miracle Gro weak solution approx 10%, winter, weekly, summer, weekly

What kind of soil are they in?

    See above

What is the humidity level where they're growing?

    outside humidity averages 40%.

Can you post a picture of the banana plants? (Dwarf Banana is a very large catchall term for about 50 species and cultivars).

will do! they are approx 4-1/2 ' tall now

If you've got Dwarf Cavendish or Super Dwarf Cavendish, ....

THAT does sound familiar! that is quite possibly what they are.

.....about 3.5 to 4 years in pots is necessary for blooming, along with sufficient space for the corm and a really crazy fertilization and watering schedule.

these are about 3 yrs old. I've priuned off the suckers until this year and am now letting them grow, as I read it helps the plant bloom.

    thanks!
