Dwarf Alberta Spruce, Where to site?

I've lost two Dwarf Albert Spruce over the years to red spider mites in spite of frequent spraying of water. Both grew for over 15 years but were eventually defoliated on one side, usually the shaded side. I have bought another and would like to plant it in the optimum site, full sun, morning sun, afternoon sun, shade whatever. I live in US Zone 5b.
