Honestly im thinking about duct taping the "joints" of my grape vines. Excuse me for making up the names but i dont have a clue what theyre called. Well I have a trellis 7 feet off the ground and the lower "joints" are growing like crazy sucking all the life out the vines. The upper part of the vines above the trellis are barely growing because of this. Anyone know how i can fix this problem?!?! Duct taping the joints so that they dont get any sunlight crossed my mind lol. help me pleaseeeeeeeee xDD thanks in advance

Just prune off any unwanted growth. I remove all of the new shoots that don't have flower clusters on them unless I want to keep them for next year. Grapes don't mind severe pruning.

i would have to prune every 3 days if i did it that way. i took the trash out earlier and thought of a great idea. what about wrapping them with large black garbage bags?!?! the sun wouldnt get through then i dont believe.
