I live in Tarpon Springs, FL. I have a 10ft tall tangerine tree planted in my south facing backyard for 5 years now. It blossoms and matures fruit, but they are hard and dry. Last year it had 30. The skin does have some pitted scars. The foliage has soot. The tree is watered by landscape sprinkler once week.

[thread=49459]This[/thread] past thread offers possible reasons for dry fruit. As for the sooty mold it is typically a sign of the presence of sap sucking pests such as scale and aphid.
