I have had a Hardy Hibiscus Tree in my garden since the summer of 2004. In each of the summers of 2004 and 2005 it produce many flower buds that were on the verge of opening but never actually opened into flowers.

Now in its 3rd season in my garden, it is over 6 feet tall and the leaves look very healthy. However, during heavy rain this week, the branches completely drooped, with some of the tips nearly touching the ground and it has not bounced back up again.

This tree is in fully shade during the winter, but from June through August it is in full sun. I am in Surrey, BC.

Any ideas why it doesn't produce full flowers or what I can do to get them to open?

How can I get it to stand up again or why is it so droopy? Would a heavy pruning help?

Thanks very much for any help!

Being in full shade is not what a hibiscus needs, hardy or not. They're originally tropical, and need lots of sun all day to bloom. Pruning will only cut off the buds.
