I am growing dragon fruit cacti and recently found a nest of catapillars inside the plant, eating the flesh, leaving a see-thru shell, around the core of the plant. unfortunatly I killed them all without getting any pictures. They were about one inch long (at the time of finding them) with red and black alternating stripes.

Any ideas on the parent bug, and how to control them since they are on the inside of the plant?

    Thank you for any help.
