hello everybody, this is my first time on here,i am in the uk and i have brought back from spain A dracaena trunk, all it says is place it in 2 cm of water and after a month it will start to bud,do i keep it in just the water or do i plant it in to soil, also do i keep it indoor, hope somebody can give me advice, thank you.
Welcome to the forum. Dracaena stems/trunks are usually quite easy to root. You didn't give length and diameter of your trunk, so this info will have to be gaged to size. I take a large Zip Lock baggie, pour damp potting soil in one lower corner, dip the trunk in rooting compound, poke it into the soil and partially close the top. I then hang it up somewhere, not in direct sun and wait. With the top of the baggie partially open excess dampness will evaporate up and around the stem, keeping the whole stem moist. I use a spray bottle with water and give it a squirt or so to keep moisture up. It creates a little green house. Make sure you remember which end goes up. You should get from one to four new stems coming out the top. Hope this helps. ;)
Your welcome! I usually work with stems about 1 cm in diameter, but I hope it stills works for you. Imagine me sitting here with and inch ruler overlaying the metric ruler to translate. I wish they had taught us both systems when I was in school. Do you know which Drac you have? ;))
