Not sure if it is considered a palm tree variety, but here goes. My beautiful dog suddenly took a liking to the soil in my Dracaena plant and ate enough to expose the roots of the plant(the woody stem low down near the roots. The plant is not happy!!! Anything I can put in the soil to deter dogs that won't poison the botanist dog I have?!

you could try putting some moth balls (wrapped in cheesecloth) around the plants base. put them on a small dish so they aren't touching the soil.

you could also fashion a piece of screening that is cut to fit the whole top of the container (with hole in center for the trunk) and then fold it over the top of the container so it can't be moved off by the dog.
