    Hi Folks

I have sucessfully identified all my house plants apart from this one. It was just labeled Foliage Plant when I brought it.

I have narrowed it down to either Dracaena Draco or a Spineless Yucca, the edge of the leaves are very rough almost saw like.

I am also having some problems with this plant, as you can see from the photos the leaf tips are turning black.

I have been watering it on a wet and dry cycle letting the compost almost dry out between waterings, I am watering my 2 Dracaenas (Marginata and fragrans Massangeana) the same as this and they are doing fine and are really healthy.

The plants is sitting close to an east facing window which gets sun in it all morning and there is a south facing window opposite which has the sun in it from around 11am till late afternoon, the plant does not get any direct sunlight on it but it is in a very bright spot and its bright all day.

If anyone could help me id the plant and also help me out with some suggestions on why the tips are going black I would be very greatful as I love this plants and I don't want to loose it.

I have 14 other house plants in the same room, lots of different species and they are all really healthy.

I have taken lots of photos

    Many Thanks

    Jakk

Wow, thanks for the quick reply Saltcedar

So if it is a Yucca am I watering it correctly? I would love to know why the tips are turning black.

Am I right in thinking these plants don't need high humidity, I was misting it quite alot when I first brought it as I thought it was Dracaena but I stopped when I thought it may be a Yucca

    Many thanks

Misting is unnecessary. The leaves tolerate high humidity in Florida without
any problem however. Your plant is most likely adjusting to lower light
in the interior. That may involve shedding old leaves and growing a new
set adapted to your conditions. Water only when pot feels 'light' between
    waterings.

    Thanks for the info Saltcedar

Thats exactly the way I am watering it, I just watered it yesterday as the pot was very light and the compost on the top was very dry, I stuck my index finger in there and it was dry.

Maybe the black tips are down to the light its getting, I have read that Yuccas prefer full sunlight, unfortunatly there is no other spot I can put it. Apart from the black tip the plant is growing fine, its got way bigger since I brought it around 3 months ago.

Again thanks for the info, its very much appreciated and it good to know exactly what the plant is.

    Many Thanks

Good job you got here first saltcedar so I didn't embarrass myself by ID'ing it as Elephantipes!

What's the easiest way to keep up to date on the taxonomy? Is there an 'official' website or something? Thanks.

Jakk, your Yucca should adapt to its lower light conditions no problem, they're pretty hardy I think.

I'll let someone else suggest Taxonomy sites. I just listen and learn
    from the folks here.
