I have what I believe to be a Dracaena deremensis that is nearly three feet tall with a very thin trunk that will not support the leafy top. I have propped it with sticks but I want to know how deeply I can bury the trunk when I repot it and will it put out root growth if I bury deeply?

    Welcome to the Forum.
You need to fix the problem with low light first or the same thing will happen again.
As for burying deeper you'll likely rot the stem. Better to air-layer the top section
then sever it and put it in a pot with new soilless potting mix.

I inherited the plant and it now sits in a very bright east window which has given it such a lush top growth.
I had figured it would rot but thought it was worth an ask.
I'll look up how to air layer.
    Thanks Saltcedar.
