I am concerned about the health of this fir tree located in Gibsons B.C. The tree is a meter in diameter and about forty meters tall. Would someone please tell me what's up with the copious amounts of sap flowing down the tree from a crevice in the bark? I have no idea whether the two picture attachments will work or not, if not, then the sap covers an area about a half meter wide and three meters tall - - very unusual to me. I would like to know if this tree is in poor health. Other than for this sap, the tree looks great!
Re: Douglas Fir The sap running down is the trees' method of healing itself. You mentioned a crevice. The tree could have been struck by lightning.
