While away on vacation, our Buddha statue seems to have grown his own shade. We jokingly call it Buddha's Umbrella Tree because it perfectly shades him from the brunt of sunlight. The plant (I assume a weed, it has grown very quickly) curls its leaves/fronds in overnight and opens them again in the daylight. The fronds/branches are longer at the top of the plant. It would now have grown to over 6 feet tall (3 months), but we have cut it back. It makes a lovely shade for our Buddha and seems appropriate in the garden. It's also a good conversation piece. But I'd love to know what it is (and more importantly, how it got there!). I've never seen anything like it, and have been searching. Thanks in advance.

BTW, yes, some additional weeding was in order and has since been done.
