I have an indoor greenhouse i have a berry bush growing there but i didnt plant it. Want to know if its safe to eat the berries there green then turn purple. I think its a solanum americanum. It has white flowers before it fruits. I want to make sure before i eat the berries thank you
These things and their relatives seem to be popping up all over. http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=71003 Not sure about edibility. I wouldn't eat them. I grew the "garden huckleberry" Solanum melanocerasum one year. It is a definitely edible relative. Loads of nice looking fruit, but even cooked into preserves it was not really tasty to me.
Yeah sort of funny in that I just asked about a plant like this yesterday too (my thread's the one Eric linked to). I added some information there that might be helpful along with the other knowledgeable people here.
