I was going to give up my obsession with this until I found this site. This is about 2 inches tall and less than 2 inches wide and was found in my bathroom between the toilet and shower. I have never seen anything like it! If you save-as on your computer and view it in Windows Photo Viewer you can see every detail of this and the more you zoom, the weirder it is. It is sort of crystal-like or something zoomed in. Thanks everyone!

Is it soft or hard to touch?
It looks more like mineral deposits growing from seeping water.

It is soft to touch. I thought it might be a mineral deposit also.

Update - so I picked it up to look more closely and from underneath it kiind of looks like brocolli. I will post updated pics when I can get the camera needed for a zoomed pic.

Perhaps ozonium -- Coprinellus domesticus at hyphal stage.
