Dogwood? Please help identify this plant!

  1. There's a beautiful tree/shrub that blooms in my backyard, and I've always wondered what it is. It blooms around May/June, and has large amounts of fragrant white blossoms. My whole family is plant-impaired, so we have no clue what it is! Someone once suggested it maight be some kind of dogwood. I live in Lansing, MI if that helps. Here are two photos I got of it in full bloom.
    Thanks!

The common name Japanese dogwood (or something similar) is sometimes used for these back East.
