This plant came with a house purchase (picture at right). What is it? Also, recent cold (low 30's) nights seem to have not treated it well (other pictures). Is there any hope for it? What is the recommended care?

I think it is Euphorbia cooperi.
And I can see from the photos that your plant almost dead!
Hope, I can see that nearly all plant is rotting!
If you can find a part of this Euphorbia which is not rotting yet. And you have to cut this part off! And try make this piece have a roots again.

If it is possible, you can cut off all dead or infected parts and cover places of cuttings with some antiseptic (in order to stop infection).
I can see from B/W picture that you plant was fine in a small pot. I think you have too check roots too.
