Hi, does anyone know if 'Gwen's Rose Delight' (more commonly Shirazz) can revert? I've got some plain red leaves on mine this spring as shown in the pic. Should I give 'em the chop?

    Thanks!

Mine did when it was getting established over the first few years, but has not done it in about 12 years. I think mine was about 7 years old when I got it, so not sure if its something that happens in the first 10 years or if it happens over the first few years of getting established.

The other possibility is that it happens when the trees still have slow release fertilizer dumped on them by the grower. Probably took a few years to get that junk out of its system.

Thanks John, I think it's fair to say that this one was over-fertilized, I bought it in '15 and it grew like a weed. Planted it last spring, so indeed still getting established.

So I'll take these leaves off.

    best, -E
