It looks like Catalpa speciosa. Is there a great big tree nearby with similar leaves and flowers, maybe with lots of long dried up and split open beans from last year?

Thank you! That looks right. Is there a way to transplant it from the woods to a garden?

Possibly the Indian bean tree 'Catalpa Bignonioides' that has been selling extremely well this last decade or so in the UK.

That's supposed to bloom in July, at least around here, just is beginning to have flower buds. The Northern Catalpa is what's in bloom now in Vancouver, also has sparser purple markings.

Hi Wendy, I'm wondering with the extreme heat and little rain in May everything has moved a long a bit. The last several days in UK has also been ridiculously hot for June, nearly equaling 1976.

Same here. New Hampshire US temps in the 90's. Is it safe to transplant his during a weird temp year?

Thank you. I don't know what I'm doing so a little help? Find the root and and plant? Cuttings? It looks like it is a tree so what is the best location? I love these beautiful flowers and they are wasted in my back yard. Thanks.

You do need a lot of room for this one and it is very invasive. But it does root easily from seed ,cuttings or layering. Personally I would find a low shoot and scar it slightly then bury it in the ground. After a season you will find it has rooted, then you can remove the stem from the parent and place in a pot or in a location you want it to grow. Or you can grow from seeds that it drops in the Winter, the seeds grow like weeds tbh. Just place seeds in a pot just below the surface in some good potting compost, water when dry and watch them grow and grow.
Good luck, but you will not really need it with this one.
