Trying to help a friend who lives in the Pacific Northwest identify this plant. It has bright yellow flowers and reddish tint in the leaves. Perennial root plant?

Glad you posted. I have the same on in our front yard, and never saved the tag, nor remembered the name. Its becoming a favorite plant, but will do even better when my beech tree covers over will more shade in a couple of years. When the temps go into the 90s F., the leaves look wilted, but only until 1pm and then they spring back up again. Does fine in 70s and low 80s without shade in our yard. Flowers last a while too. Ours is about 36 inches across after 2 years.

Yes it is! Thank you for posting this so quickly. This is my first time on this site and it has been a great experience. I am glad to have stumbled upon it in my quest to find out about this plant for my friend. Looks like a plant I may have to add to my collection of perennials.
