do we have neat freak moles?

    This bare patch has straight sides all the way round and a hole at one end.
    about 9 inches across.
    wasps?
    no sign of any critters.
    ideas?

    I don't know the culprit behind this but perhaps some detective work is in order. How about this: Tie a length of string to a small plastic bag, attach the other end of the string to a stake in the ground outside the hole, then stuff the bag a short distance inside the hole. See if it will be pulled inside or thrown outside. At least it will let you know whether it's a creature you're dealing with.

    Great idea! We don't want to trap anything. If we just fill up the hole!
