I do innoculate the roots of my JM's that I have been putting into pots with Myco. I do see the difference if with vs without

I'm not a huge plant pot grower but this is my understanding...while the Myco may inhibit the -soil less medium during the growing season-, does it **DIE OFF** in the winter just due to temperature of the soil-less medium ?

Hello - Did you spot this article ?
    https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25404213/

Off topic but to some extent related..I’ve done pretty well over 25 years growing JM solely in pots using a free draining soil based mix, I’ve had very minimal loses over the years.. just the odd runt of the litter, which would probably have snuffed it however carefully it was looked after.

Whilst I can’t back this up with science, I find including approx 30-35% organic soil/compost, mixed with 50% mini pine bark chips and 15-20% grit, sharp sand (or perlite, not often) provides a good balance between free draining medium and a medium that has some nutrients for plants to utilise. It takes the pressure off having to be ultra precise and consistent with fertiliser. Some years I fertilise , some years I don’t.. Just a thought.. I just wonder whether using soilless medium is making hard work out of it.. and wasting lots of water in the summer months because of the increased watering that’s needed
