Dissected leaf forb

    Can anyone ID this plant? Found on thin soil over rocky outcrop. It has since flowered. Inflorescence is a spike like raceme. Flowers borne in clusters under a round leafy bract (perforate). Flowers 5-merous. Flowers probably perfect.

    I would post a pic of the flowers, but the digital camera that I am working with this summer is not good at macro. Any ideas will help, thank you!

    Looks like ragweed, Ambrosia artemisiifolia.

    Unreal. Two asters from the same tribe in one day. What tricky morphology. Who knew that the involucre could be a connate aggregation of the bracts. I would have never guessed that this was an aster!
