I thought my first attempt at growing tomatoes on my balcony was going well - until I picked this first fruit. Is it blight? I have two plants and many of the leaves on the other plant (no ripe fruit yet) have turned yellow.
Looks like blossum end rot. Check out the pictures here: http://vegetablemdonline.ppath.cornell.edu/diagnostickeys/TomFrt/TomFrtKey.html#Yellow You can cut that part off and eat the rest. It will be fine. You might try adding a couple of Tums to your Tomatoes and see if that helps. It may help save some of your tomatoes. Good luck!
Hope you can solve this problem and get some healthy tomatoes in the future. Jan's right about cutting off the bad and eating the good, so don't worry - all isn't lost. I know how disappointing it can be though, so I feel for ya. Try the Tum trick and see what happens. : )
