Can anyone identify the disease on the attached photos. The trees are a bing cherry and a crimson king maple.
    Thanks,

A silly question, perhaps, but what directional side of the trees has the damage occurred? Is the damage on the south or southwest side of the trees?

I'm pretty sure they are on the southwest side.

Hmm. Well, I am not a plant pathologist by any means, but I wonder if it is sun scald.
