Hello There; I know I might be in the wrong place trying to identify diseases but I found no other place. My tomato plant has it's lower leaves yellowish with spots on them (see fig.1,2) Another question, I have two tomato plants one is darker than the other (color wise), I don't think there is something wrong in that aspect (like it could be disease or a disorder) But, is it possible that nuitrition could play a role or are they simply different species? ...............thanks for your time
It is not Late Blight. It does not look like this disease, not to mention that Cairo is too hot and dry for Phytophthora infestans to survive. That said, I do not know what the problem is for sure, but I would tend to think it might be a nutrient deficiency or imbalance. Also it is hard to tell the size of the container in the photo; tomato plants in a hot country need a minimum container size of 20 litres, preferably larger.
Its far less than 20 litres, and I cant transplant it somewhere bigger because first I dont have the space, second , every time I transplant a plant it goes bad. Can I compensate that with frequent watering, or will it just rot the roots.
As long as the drainage is good, frequent watering will help. Also regular application of a dilute liquid fertilizer will help with nutrient issues. You can still get some tomatoes from a smaller container, just don't expect a large crop, and be prepared to have to deal with nutrient deficiencies.
